Size and fit

Each mat is 8 by 8 inches and holds roughly 2 tablespoons of spread — enough for one calm session, small enough that a Yorkie is not overwhelmed and big enough that a Labrador has to work for it. For two dogs, use one mat per dog so the faster licker does not take over.

What to put on it

Xylitol-free peanut butter, plain Greek yogurt, mashed banana, wet dog food, pure pumpkin puree, blended blueberries, or your dog's kibble softened with a splash of warm water. Skip anything with xylitol, chocolate, grapes, onions or raisins.

Common questions

Will the suction cups hold on my kitchen floor?
Only on smooth, hard, clean surfaces. Tile, sealed hardwood, glass, porcelain tub and stainless steel work well. Rug, textured vinyl or any surface with dog hair on it will not hold. Wipe the surface dry first and the cups grip noticeably stronger.

My dog is a fast licker. Will she finish it in two minutes?
Not if you freeze it. Spread the food into the grooves, freeze flat for at least two hours, then serve cold. Most 60-pound dogs get 12 to 18 minutes out of a fully frozen mat; smaller dogs get longer.

Is silicone safe if my puppy chews on the edge?
The mat is food-grade silicone, the same grade used in kitchen bakeware. It is not a chew toy, though — supervise if your dog is a known shredder, and store the mats out of reach between uses.

Can I use one mat for two dogs?
An 8-inch mat is sized for one dog at a time. With two dogs, give each their own mat so the faster licker does not take over and the slower one walks away hungry. That is why we ship them as a pair.
